While you might be already taking part in some of the ways to save extra money, below you may find something new that will help you save a little more!
Doing some or all of the things mentioned below can really make a difference for you.
It can help you pay off your debt sooner, improve your financial habits, help you reach your goals faster and more.
Below are over 30 ways to save money each month. If you do all of these, you may be able to save hundreds and thousands of dollars each year! A little bit goes a long way, and even though it might not seem like your saving a ton, little savings can add up to a lot more than you expected.
Start a blog.
This isn’t a way to cut expenses, but there are many ways a blog may be able to help you save more money.
A blog can even help you make more money. I know many people who have started a blog and are making thousands of dollars a month. Plus, it’s a lot of fun!
If you are interested in starting a blog of your own, I created a tutorial that will help you start a blog of your own for cheap, starting at only $3.95 per month (this low price is only through my link and for a limited time) for blog hosting. In addition to the low pricing, you will receive a free blog domain (a $15 value) through my Bluehost link if you purchase at least 12 months of blog hosting. I also have a free blogging course you can join too that will help you start and launch a successful blog!
Eat out one less time each month.
How many times do you eat out each month? How much do you think you spend each month at restaurants? Most people are surprised when they actually sit down and track how much they’ve spent!
Eating out just one less time each month can help your finances a lot. You don’t have to completely stop going out for dinner, just do it one less time each month. Plus it will help you save a nice chunk of change over a one-year period.
Cut the cable to save extra money.
A market research company called, The NPD Group, says that the average monthly cable bill is about $120. In 2020, TV lovers may need to take out a loan to watch TV because the average cable bill is expected to be about $200 a month!
I know that some people prefer to have cable but I doubt that is the norm. Many people have cable just because it’s an expense people are, “used to.”
But if you think about it, that money can be used for something else, like a vacation, retiring earlier, paying off debt, and more. I recommend getting a digital antenna so that you can receive local channels for free and still save money.
Sign up for Swagbucks and InboxDollars.
I earn free Amazon gift cards and cash with Swagbucks for very little work. Swagbucks is just like Google to do your online searches. You get rewarded in points for things you do through their website, like play games, watch movies, answer questions, and more. Then, when you have enough points, you can redeem them for gift cards, cash, and more! I actually just redeemed over $60 worth of Amazon gift cards through them, and it paid for a birthday present! How awesome is that! You can sign up through my link and get $5 for free!
InboxDollars is an online rewards website I highly recommend. You can earn cash by taking surveys, playing games, shopping online, searching the web, redeeming grocery coupons, and more. Also, sign up through my link and you’ll receive $5 for free!
Take online surveys.
The best part about this is that you are basically earning money for not doing much. If you sign up for them all, you may be able to earn a nice handful of cash by taking online surveys. I made just shy of $1,000 last month with very little work.
Survey companies I recommend include Survey Junkie, Daily Rewards, and Survey Rewardz. They are all free to join and free to use! You get paid to answer surveys and to test products. It’s best to sign up for as many as you can, That way, you can receive the most surveys and make the most money.

Stop smoking.
According to Statistic Brain, the average person spends around $40 a month on tobacco products. That is a lot of money for a very unhealthy habit. And that’s only if you’re an average smoker. I know people who smoke packs a day, and that can add up to a lot of money. There is no “win” when it comes to smoking. It costs you your health and your money, so might as well kick it to the curb.
Have fun for free.
I was talking to someone who was telling me how expensive it was to have fun. We were talking about money and debt and everything that comes along with it. They also told me they have a “fun” budget every month that was around $500.
Ummmm what?! $500? A month?! And do people do that? Have a “fun” budget?
I can’t think of any reason why you should be paying $500 a month to have fun, especially if you are trying to pay off debt and get ahead in the financial game.
There are many ways to have fun that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and lets you save money.
Cancel your gym membership.
There are so many ways to get a great workout both inside and outside your home. While there are positives to paying for a gym membership for some people, the majority with a gym membership do not get their money’s worth. You can get the same great workout for free at home!
Purchase a water filter to save money on water.
Did you know that a family of 4 spends up to $5,000 a year on bottled water if they are drinking the recommended 8 glasses per day?
Instead of spending so much money on bottled water each year, you can drink purified water from home by purchasing a water filter. It saves you money that you would be spending on bottled water and it’s great for the environment.
Meal plan to save money.
Meal planning is something that has completely changed my life. I eat healthier than ever, I have lost weight from meal planning, I’m saving money and I have less food waste.
I like cooking home-cooked meals but before meal planning, I had no idea what to make and I would just end up buying something quick and unhealthy most of the time.
Then I created my own meal plan, where I would take some time out to sit there and think about my meals for the week. I would then create a shopping list and buy things only for those meals. It’s good to be creative here, and look up recipes you’ve been wanting to try. I was also very detailed, for example, making sure I had enough lemons (but just enough, no more or no less) for the week to put into my water.
I know this seems mundane to do, to actually sit down and write out a meal plan, but trust me, once you get yourself to get on board, it’s super fun and ends up saving you a lot of money on food!
Have a No-Spend Month.
A great way to save money quickly is to have a no-spend month. Until you start earning more money, it is vital to keep your expenses low while you work on increasing your income. A no-spend month is a great way to do that. It’s basically spending money on only the essentials. This means cutting out expenses such as eating out, hobbies, socialization expenses, expensive products and more.
