I am sure that you have been told many times that you need to break out of your comfort zone.

Maybe you’ve been in the same position at the same job for way too many years, or you are nervous to try a new dish at a favourite restaurant.

Well in any of those cases, it’s about time to break out of your comfort zone and try new things!

Stepping out of your comfort zone actually leads to creativity, increased productivity, the ability to react positivity to unexpected changes and further your success and more!

I know what it’s like, you get cozy and you get stuck. You have that feeling in your heart of dissatisfaction but you’re too afraid to leave your comfort zone because you are scared of the unknown.

We spend our entire life preparing for our comfort zone. A good paying job, big fancy house, new car, etc.., only to be stuck in that for our entire life. Don’t get me wrong, for some… that’s all they want. But I know for me, I wanted way more out of life.

It’s important to move through your comfort zone and realize that change is the only constant because sometimes when you are too comfortable, you stagnate your growth and you stop growing.

Comfort zones ruin our lives when we get stuck in them. I call it, the conveyor belt lifestyle.

This is dangerous because when you stop growing, you stop learning, and when you stop learning, you will not be able to become the greatest version of yourself.

And you need to become that person to have your best life.

Comfort zones don’t have to be all bad though.

I believe in expanding your comfort zone. Let’s face it, comfort zones are cozy! They make us feel safe and secure.

So what if we could expand that feeling to something much more? What if we taught ourselves how to be comfortable with the things that scare us?

I find what helps me is to create as I go. I let those feelings of fear pass through me, then I do it anyway.

For example, cliff diving. I was terrified of cliff diving, but I knew in my heart that once I jump, I will love it.

So, I taught myself how to embrace that change and I went for it!…..guess what? I loved it!

And now it’s something I always do whenever I have the chance because it’s now a part of my comfort zone.

Crazy how that works right?

Here are some simple suggestions that will help you expand your comfort zone and get you closer to the greatest version of yourself.

Take baby steps.

In order to become your greatest version of yourself and accomplish everything you want in life, you will have to have a clear picture of what is it exactly you want from life.

What are your goals? what are your financial goals? fitness goals? travel goals?

Once you have the answers to those questions, you need to be able to break those goals down into small actionable steps that you can do on a daily basis.

For example, I want to lose 60 pounds, well then I will have to see what I can do every day to get to that goal.

I have to eat healthier, exercise more, get more fresh air, etc. These are all things that are doable and I can do every day. And by doing these things, I will be able to reach my goal.

It’s all about taking it one step at a time.

Be curious.

The best thing about life is that you can always experiment with different things. Sometimes if one way doesn’t work, then you can always try something else till it does work. You can finally set your mind free and not worry about sticking to the same old routine.

You will find that when you are starting to expand your comfort zone, your mind will start to become more creative and you will have more ideas to try out.

Like if you’re hiking, you might venture out on a different path (or the road less travelled) to see if you will find something new or you may be curious as to how chocolate chips might taste in your all banana, banana bread!

Whatever the case may be, keeping that curiosity alive inside you will help you expand your comfort zone in a much more fun way! And you will also learn new ways of doing things.

Try things you’ve always wanted to try.

I am sure everyone has wanted to try things that they said they will do later. “I’ll try_______when I’m retired, I’ll try _______when I have more money.”

What I have learned is that life is way too short, and that opportunity in front of you right now may not come back ever again.

Trying new things will let you have new experiences and let you learn more about yourself. I understand some things you can’t do right at that exact moment, but sooner is always better than later. You can even make it a goal to get to do those things faster.

Change the environment.

Our environments shape and mold our minds. They shape our minds and the way we think.

It’s always a good thing to change the environment. If you are always working from home, then sometimes it’s nice to go to a coffee shop and work from there.

Or instead of always driving to work, how about biking to work this time. The more you change your environment, the easier it will be to expand your comfort zone and accept new things.

Sometimes it’s scary to accept change. But the thing is, if there’s no risk, then there’s no reward.

The more you expand your comfort zone, the more you will be able to conquer your fears…and that is always a great feeling. 🙂

For me, starting a blog was really scary. I felt vulnerable and unsure. but I know that the only way I will be able to grow and reach my goals is if I face my fears.

I can tell you this much, once you switch your mindset and start expanding your comfort zone, the feeling on the other side is pretty awesome!

Don’t give up.

Sometimes it feels like whenever you try to do something good for yourself, then life seems to be against you. Ever have that feeling? I sure have. And I realized that’s not the case.

When you want to change yourself and you have deep desires that you want to fulfill, the universe will test you to see if you are worthy of your desires. So you have to prove to yourself and the universe that you really are worthy of your desires.

You will notice obstacles in front of you all the time. And if you really want whatever it is that you desire, then you will prove it by not giving up on that dream, and then nothing will stop you from getting to your goals.

Don’t ever give up when things seem impossible, because there is no such thing as impossible. Whatever you desire, the body you want, the life you want, the love you want,..is already yours! You just need to go and get it.

How about you?

What is something that you have always wanted to do? How will you expand your comfort zone?
